A remarkable organisation celebrate its 60th anniversary today and tomorrow. EUROCAE was created 6 decades ago and is on a continuous mission to create and maintain standards for the European aviation industry. If you ever had to comply with an ED document, this is where it comes from.
EUROCAE is a true example of working together at a technical level. It heavily relies on its members to produce the standards and other guidance material. Members come from all over the industry: ANSPs, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, industry providers, academia, and so on. Beyond the standards themselves, EUROCAE is a great place for networking, where even competitors work together. It is not where you’ll do commercial deals but it is where you can show your expertise and build presence and credibility.
Many standards turn into European regulations, or are referred to by them as acceptable means of compliance, like the famous ED-109 and ED-153 which define software lifecycles and safety. Many standards are also used outside of Europe, which is the greatest testament to EUROCAE’s work.
We've had two podcast episodes with General Directors of EUROCAE which are well worth a listen:
